About healings by prayers, laying on of hands, etc

«Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.» Matthew 9.35

«Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.» Jesus quoted, in John 14.12

«And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.» Jesus quoted, in Mark 16.17-18

How does a healing happen

The problem we had, which Jesus had to help us with

Because of the fall of man (Adam and Eve (Genesis 3)), we all have fallen as humans, and are carrier of the original sin. It’s just the biological part of us which is carrying this original sin (not our soul or spirit).
Because we have this original sin, we all also can sin, and we have all been sinning in different ways. If it was not because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we would have been reaped the fruits of our sins, like illnesses and other damages to our life, and loss of help from God. So if it was not for Jesus, we would had a big problem, without the possibilty to do anything about it.

God sent his son Jesus, to buy us free from the original sin, and from the other sins we have done, by that Jesus took the punishment for our sins. Like that, Jesus have bought us free, so we can get healings and all kind of other help from God.

In short: Jesus has bought us free, so we can get healing for illnesses, injuries, and psychologically problems,.. and all kind of other help from God.

«And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”» Genesis 2.16-17

The fall of man, see Genesis 3.

«Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned» Romans 5.12

«But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.» Romans 5.15

«For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.» Romans 5.19

«The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!» John 1.29

«for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,» Romans 3.23-24

«Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.» Jesus quoted, in John 10.17-18

«Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.» Jesus quoted, in John 8.36

Different methods

The person who is bringing healing or other help to one, can use different methods. Some common methods are; prayers, laying on of hands, holding a hand against one (without touching), talk to the illness (e.g. «illness, disappear in the name of Jesus», or that one just say «illness disappear» (for healing in the name of Jesus), talk freedom over the person, etc.

«Now when Jesus had come into Peter’s house, He saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.
When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”»
Matthew 8.14-17

«Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.» Jesus quoted, in John 14.12

«And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.» Jesus quoted, in Mark 16.17-18

«Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.» Matthew 10.8

«And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.» Acts 14.8-10

Faith in that God basically help

To get healing and other help by prayers, one need to belive that God basically help. Faith is one of the big keys in the bible, also when it came to prayer-answers.

«And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.» Jesus quoted, in Matthew 21.22

«So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.» Mark 11.22-24

«But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.» Matthew 9.22

«Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.» Matthew 8.13

If there is no faith in that God basically help, then prayers, laying on of hands etc, will not work.

«Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him. So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.» Luke 9.38-42

If someone pray for one, then one don’t need to belive onself that God basically help, as long as the person praying for one, has strong enough faith, to compensate for ones lack of faith (as more lack of faith one have, as stronger faith must the person praying have, to be able to compensate).
If the lack of faith is total / 100%, then it’s probably impossible to compensate.

If oneself have faith in that God basically help, then it’s probably not neccesary that the person who pray for one have faith.

The same applies for laying on of hands, etc.

How many times must one be prayed for, to get healed?

This is determined by the faith in prayers. One prayer is enough for getting fully healed, if there is faith for that,.. but if there’s only faith for some healing pr prayer, then one can only get some healing per prayer.
(But in the same way as above, it’s possible that the person who pray for one, can compensate for lack of faith (but as more compensating which is needed, as more difficult it is to compensate).
The same applies for laying on of hands, etc.

How fast will a healing come

That work in the same way as above (where the result of the prayer(s), basically follow the faith (which here then will be faith in how fast God basically will heal).
A full healing is basically coming instanly, but if the faith is that it will come more gradually, it will come more gradually.
(And in the same way as above, lack of faith can be compensated).
The same applies for laying on of hands, etc.

If one get prayers for help for other things, how fast will such a help come?

That works in the same way as above, where the prayer-answer will follow the faith.
If the faith is that one will get what one need, when one need it,.. then one basically will get what one need, when one need it.
If the faith is that one need to pray several times to get the neccesary help, then one need to pray several times before one get the neccesary help.
(And, in the same way as above, the one who pray can compensate for lack of faith (but as more compensating which is neccesary, as more difficult to compensate).
The same applies to laying on of hands, etc.

Short summary

Jesus has bought us free from our sins, so we can get healing and freedom, from all kinds of illnesses, injuries, and help to other things.
The result of one prayer, follow the faith in help from God,.. and the one who pray for one can compensate for lack of faith until a certain degree.
In practice that means that a healing and other help often will come instantly, other times more gradually, and that one sometimes have to pray more than one time.
The same applies for laying on of hands, etc.

Different reasons why a help from God, eventually only is partial, or does not come at all at first

This can have different reasons, and the list below is not ment as a complete list of reasons.
– Lack of faith on the part of the person who pray for someone, and lack of faith on the part of the person who is being prayed for,.. is an important reason for why a healing or other help eventually does not appear.
Some people praying, can for instance have high faith in healings for pain, back-problems, etc,.. but not so strong in faith for other problems like blindness, paralysis, etc,.. and like that get problem to compensate for others lack of faith in thoose areas.
It’s still many christians (including pastors, evangelists etc), who don’t have especially faith in help from God,.. and then will not be able to compensate so much for others lack of faith, or compensate at all.
Even Jesu diciples in the bible, had problems in the beginning.

«Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief» Matthew 17.19-20

-Sin can hinder. For instance, if one are not willing to forgive someone.
That one regularly fall / sin, will not hinder a prayer answer. Sin is just hindering while one are sinning (including if one have decided to do something sinful).
About previous sin, God is a forgiving God.

«And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.» Mark 11.25

-If God see that it’s better that a healing and other help, only is partially, or not at all at first, I then things probably will be like that.
For instance it may happen, that difficult situations will give one valuable knowledge, about to help other people.
